MFSK Interface

Amateur RTTY is transmitted using Frequency Shift Keyed (FSK) modulation. With FSK, two tones are alternately turned on and off to encode a bit stream. With 45.45 baud RTTY, the shortest duration of a tone is 22 ms and the two tones are separated in the spectrum by 170 Hz.

With Multiple Frequency Shift Keying (MFSK, also known as M-ary FSK in the literature), the signal can have more than two tones. DominoEX consists of 18 tones and MFSK16 has 16 tones. Like RTTY, both DominoEX and MFSK16 have 100% duty cycle; at all times one and only one tone is present.
